My name is Luca and I breed english cocker spaniel since 2004.My first cocker was Mirtilla ( Ch. Angelface) and with her started my dream about breeding.

My breeding plan gives importance to all aspects of the selection, without favouring one to another: morphology, character and practical skills have to go hand in hand.

All my dogs, and the dogs I will use for matigs, are tested for hip dysplasia and for the ereeditary diseases typical of the breed, such us familial nephropathy (FN) and progressive retinal atrophy ( PRCD-PRA).
This means that all the puppies "Blackmirtillas" will never be affected by these two diseases.

Moreover, I will never use Family Nephropathy (FN) carriers as this is a terrible and deadly disease and it is my personal intention not to have other dogs carrying the gene.

As for the PRCD-PRA, as the number of carriers is very high (statistically 1 out of 2), in order do to not reduce the gene pool and prevent the emergence of other new diseases, I will use them, just in case the overall quality of the dog are very good, but only coupled with dogs normal/clear in order to bring to light healthy puppies.

I personally show all my dogs in national and international shows, in Italy and Abroad: all of them have often achieved the status of excellent.

As the English Cocker Spaniel was born as a hunting dog, I want to breed dogs that still keep their instincts of race and natural attitude, especially because I’m firmly convinced that this allows them to have a more balanced psyco-physical temperament.I participate at hunting aptitude tests and most of my dogs obtained great results.I will never mate my females before 18 months and not more at than 8 years: and they will never have more than one litter per year.As most of my puppies will primarily be the companions of life, and as I believe in temperament inheritance, I will never use aggressive or shy dogs, but only sweety and merry dogs that will give to their future generations these essential characteristics.

All puppies grow up in the home-environment and I spend a lot of time with the puppies, giving them activities and getting them used to “working” with humans. In this way, they receive the incentives necessary for their own proper development and then be inserted easily in the future home environment.
All my puppies will be undocked, as I firmly believe that if a dog borns with a tail no one has the right to deprive him of it.

My puppies will be given not earlier than 65 days, with health booklet, the first vaccine made at the seventh week and the treatment of pests Intestinal every 3 weeks, microchip, request for pedigree. In addition, a folder will contain copies of the parents pedigree, and their genetic tests.
